Inviting some cousins and not others to the wedding

My fiance and I were only planning on inviting close friends and relatives to keep the wedding small. But he talked to a cousin last night who really sounded like he wanted to come to the wedding, and he is a close cousin, so we are inviting him, but now my fiance feels like he has to invite ALL his cousins, so that the others won't get offended that he only invited one. What is the etiquette here? He is for the most part not close with any of his other cousins. Do we have to invite all the other cousins (most of them probably won't come anyway).

Thanks

Dear Scritlttr,

This is a delicate subject as is most family related issues. But, the simple answer is no. Just invite those with whom you are close. This includes family.

Best wishes,
