     Is calligraphy necessary?

My future mother-in-law thinks our escort cards should be written by a professional calligrapher and I'm trying to cut down on cost a little bit so I was wondering if it is okay if I write out the cards myself?

You can always do your own cards as long as your handwriting is neat and legible.
