Out of Town Gift Baskets for Christmas Wedding

My future daughter-in-law has asked me to prepare gift baskets for the out of town guests. Most of them are from my own family. What would be clever and appropriate gifts for a Christmas wedding? Thanks!

SmileMost of the time out of town baskets will have things like a couple of muffins,a little fruit, water or coffee, a local map, menus of local delivery restaurants, some activity brochures, recommendations for places to eat and that sort of thing. Along with them should be a nice note from the couple thanking these guests for taking the extra time effort they did to attend.

These baskets are in the realm of hospitality much more than "gifts.." So stick with something they can use that weekend.

I completely agree. Plus, you know your family. So, you could include items that you know they would appreciate.

To coincide with the holiday, you might want to include some instant hot cocoa packets, hot or cold apple cider, a tiny pinecone, and/or a list of local holiday attractions that your guests might visit. Stay away from things like strong peppermints (tempting at Christmas) because they tend to cause everything else in the basket to smell like mint - whether it's appropriate or not.

If the wedding will be very holiday-styled, maybe you could give your welcome basket in stockings!

Just have a good time with it and don't make yourselves crazy over them...they are a kind gesture, and just your thoughtfulness will be appreciated.
