     RSVP problem

My reception is going to be a sit down dinner and the caterer needs a final count 3 weeks before the wedding. What do you do for people that do not RSVP and show up anyway? How many extra dinners should i have prepared to account for these people?

Hello Erin,

What I recommend is that within 2-3 weeks of your wedding, call those guests who have yet to respond. Sometimes life happens and people just forget to mail the envelope. Do this will help reduce the amount of those who would otherwise just show up. Additionally, an idea would be to set aside one table of 8-10 seats for anyone who may still show up unexpectedly. For these seats, have a simple, inexpensive meal (chicken, rice, green beans, etc.). Caterers are usually very understanding in this regard and will work with you to keep the cost down.

I hope this helps.
