I am planning a small garden wedding with 60 guests. My schedule is as follows: Pre ceremony gathering at 11 AM, ceremony at Noon, formal pictures, appetizers, drinks at 12:30, lunch at 1:30, toast at 3:00, cake cutting 3:15, music and dancing 4 PM. The ceremony and reception will be held in the same place with a few site changes between events.
My question is; can I move the event along at this pace, or do I need to add in more down time during the reception?
I do not have a caterer, or wedding planner, this is a "do it yourself" wedding which will occur in exactly 3 months. I will have a small "staff" of friends to help with break-down but would like to clean up and relax before midnight!
I am not sure what the pre ceremony gathering represents. The ceremony at noon with appetizers at 12:30 then 1:30 lunch is good. I assume that you will have the first dance and guest dancing at about 2:30 and then the cake and toast together at 3:15 with more dancing after that. The typical ceremony and reception is 4 to 5 hours. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com
Thank you for your advice on the time frame, I feel better now.
My fiance's guests always run late, so by announcing a "pre-ceremony gathering" he believes they will arrive right on time for the ceremony.
I planned to cut the cake first as my MOH has another party to attend, this also gives the elderly guests the chance to participate if they too want to leave a bit early.
This is a informal garden wedding, my musicians are from Mexico and play guitar and sing in the church my fiance' attends, we don't expect much dancing except perhaps the traditional first dance.
Thanks again!
