     When to start planning?

Hi I just got engaged about a month ago, and we've already set the date for October 15, 2005. That is about 14 months away. My problem is that I don't know when I should really start planning and what are the things that I should take care of first. My mom first told me that I should start now, but everytime I mention something about the wedding she tells me that I have over a year to plan. I mean I don't really expect to be buying anything at this time but I have no clue as to when things should be bought, reserved, etc. I am also a senior in college, so my time for planning a wedding is limited. I will only have about 5 months left after I graduate until I get married, and most of that time will be spent looking for a job, a place to live and so on. I just don't know what to do. I already have my colors picked out, but that's about it. I could really use some advice on what I should be doing.
