     cake or pie

Our wedding is not until next year in November. I have done alot of planning already and I have a fiance that is willing to give ideas. We are paying for our own wedding and would like it to be different with a traditional feel. I have read in many bridal magazine where the cake is over-rated. We were wondering would it be too tacky to have pumkin pie as our "wedding cake"? Both of my sisters are excellent bakers and I thought having them make a variety of pies (apple, pumpkin, etc.) would be unique as well as fit right in with our autumn theme.

I thought that I would mention also that the immediate family will be cooking the main dinner which will include:

Turkey, ham, rice, beans, stouffing, corn, bread rolls, and tortillas. Salsa and chips will be part of the center pieces as well as other decor. It is mainly family attending.

Our wedding day is the 19th the week before Thanksgiving is this rushing it for others since we will be on our honeymoon the week after?

Appreciate any advice,

Thanks

Pie sounds like a nice idea for the Fall wedding! Maybe your sisiters could tier or stack the pies and decorate with a lovely autumn caketopper. Add some chocolate leaves for a lovely, edible decoration too!

Since you won't be home for Thanksgiving, this will be your chace to also "give thanks" with your family and friends.

Dear Cake or Pie,

I love that idea! Pie is definitely a great alternative.

Congratulations!
