     early ceremony/late reception

I plan to have my ceremony in our local parish, then would like to have the reception 30 minutes away. Reason: no nice reception sites - small town. If this appropriate? Also, If I have a 1:00 ceremony (ending about 2:15, then photos at the church), is it appropriate and polite to have a dinner reception at 5:00 PM AND 30 minutes away??? Thanks for any help...

Firstly, there's always a chance that the ceremony could run late so it's good to have a few spare moments. Theoretically, if the ceremony were to end on time and the guests have to travel 30 minutes to the reception (this is done and acceptable) that would leave them a 2 hour lag where they'd be on their own. If you can try to move the reception up a bit that would be much better. If you cannot then some brides offer hospitality rooms at the hotel for guests to gather until the reception...other arrange a tour of the city. Try to find something to help fill in that gap.

Best of luck...
