I am Having a problem I am having an outside night time wedding and will be using lots of candles but I am unsure of the lighting, i believe i will need more but i don't know how to do it. I'm going to have twinkle lights in the trees, candles as centerpieces at the reception. But what about the ceremony itself? How can i make sure there is enough light i don't eat dirt, but not look like a movie set with wires everywhere. I thought about using a metal frame with ivy engraved in it with twinkle lights on it as a backdrop but don't know yet. Please help any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Congratulations on your wedding! Relax, take a deep breath, and know that everything will be fine. Regarding your lighting situation - I assume that candles will be used as the main source of lighting, and not simply to accessorize the scenery. Being that twinkle lights will also be used,it may not be a bad idea to opt in favor of a much more 'controllable' lighting source to provide the additional lighting. Safety should be a consideration any time flames are used especially if children will be in attendance. Lighting, such as that used to line pathways (there are many different styles), lanterns or torches (PierI Imports) would not only be safer, but give off a greater amount of light, and eliminate the need for extra candles. It would also be wise to consult with the facility to inquire how lighting has been handled in the past for other nighttime weddings, as the facility may have these items on hand. Their knowledge and experience should go a long way in saving you time and unnecessary headaches :)
Good luck to you!

I just watched a show on HGTV where they showed how to make luminaries. This would be an awesome idea for you. The woman had a bunch of really neat ideas for making your own luminaries which would be safe to use.
1. In a decporative pail or planter pot, fill with sand, insert a oilar candle and over that a glass hurricane lamp.
2. Get together any container made of metal (paint cans, large soup cans, etc) fill with water, freexe, punch holes in through the sides to form pattern of your choice, melt the water and remove. Set candles inside.
3. Go to your local home store and get pvc tubes. They will curt them for you. Have them but in lengths of about 12 to 18 inches. Paint with heat resistant paint on the outside. Place on the ground or on your tables, etc and insert a flashlight (light side up).
4. Take stainless steel colanders and place one on top of the other forming a dome over the first. Insert small flashlight or battery operated "touch" lights inside.
You can replace any candle inside a luminary with a flashlight or one of those battery operated "touch" lights" like the ones you see advertised for closet walls. Just be careful about what sort of holder you are using and be sure it's not flammable. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
