     long engagement

HELP! My fiancée and I are getting married in 2 years - yes, 24 months. Every wedding planning guide has schedules for 6, 9, 12 month engagements... I don't know what my timeline should be for 24 months! Everyone says "great, you have a lot of time, plan early"... how early is too early? We've booked the reception site/caterer - should I do anything else now (photographer, florist etc.) or wait it out?

Thanks!!!

Hello there,

With you major pieces taken care of you can now relax and start planning your design. Go through books for cake designs, flowers, songs for special dances, etc. Start a scrap book so that when you go shopping for these pieces in about 6 months, you'll have some definite direction for your vendors.

With planning so far out, I'd definitely invest in wedding insurance to make sure that if a vendor goes out of business in the two years, you'll get your deposits back.

Best of luck but relax and enjoy the designing process.
