mog wants to be part of the planning

FrownI am the mog. My son and his fiance have lived with us for a year-they now have their own place. The bride has no mother and a great dad but financially is not helping them and has a very pushy girlfriend whom the bride adores. My husband and I have given our son and his fiance 10,000.00 to help them with the wedding (which was a stretch for us). The bride and I had made plans to have the wedding party meet in our state to shop for dresses including the brides. I have been informed that the plans had changed and they are all going to the state where her father lives and they will be looking for the dresses there. It is a 4 hour trip and on a weekend they know I have other plans. I am crushed beyond belief. Do I say anything? I have three boys who are the loves of my life. Is this what I should expect? I can not stop crying, I would never hurt someone like this!

Dear MOG,

It was very generous of you to give them this money, but it is a gift. The couple plans the wedding they wish to have. Yes, it is unfortunate she changed her mind. But, there may be very good reasons. Perhaps it is easier for her attendants to shop in that state. She has to consider them as well.

It may be best to speak with her about this. She may not realize that you are hurt.

Best wishes,
