My fiance and I want to have our ceremony at a rose garden close to where I grew up. I called the reservation line this morning and they said that they won't start taking reservations for next year until october!
Our target date would be late May, early June next year, but without nailing down a date until this fall, will this complicate our other planning? We would have about 7 months in between determining the date and having the wedding. Also, I'm not sure how in-demand this location is, but I'm assuming that the prime-time request for this venue will be the same time we're going for, since the roses will be blooming. And, perhaps I am over-anxious about this, how can we schedule a reception hall without a wedding date? Graduation parties are also around that time so I'm afraid to wait too long to schedule a reception hall. Am I over-reacting, or should we think of another plan?

I would consider another location since you have a specific time frame in mind. Waiting along with you for the October opening of dates are other couples wanting the same time frame. If you can be flexible in your timing, stay with the desired venue. You are right, a May wedding also competes for many of the vendors for services that may be also in demand by prom season. You would want to secure your services early to get the best deals. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com and http://www.coordinatorscorner.com
