     Parents not invited to rehearsal

My Stepson has indicated my husband and I are "not expected" at the rehearsal and dinner. The bride and groom decided to pay for the "pizza" dinner themselves. The groom will be staying at our home after the dinner (night before the wedding). We are very close to my stepson and are cordial with his mother / stepfather.

My question - is it necessary for us to attend if we are not participating in the ceremony? Should I question the decision or just enjoy the night of freedom before the influx of relatives and wedding day festivities?

Dear Adviseplease,

He has given you the choice of attending or no. So, it is your choice.

Best wishes,
