Is it customary for the "house party" to attend the rehearsal and subsequently to the rehearsal dinner?
Our rehearsal dinner keeps growing and growing...includes parents, grandparents, 7 attendants each for both bride and groom along with dates or mates, photographer, singer, pianoist, sound technician, 2 ushers, 5 members of house party along with their dates and mates, 3 out-of-town guest that mother of bride wants to invite. I think we are not up to 63 people. Of everyone mentioned, it seems like possibly "house party" people could be eliminated if this doesn't violate etiquette rules. What do you think?
Thanks!

I have never heard of this term "house party" so I cannot comment on that but, if you search the posts you will see the many asnwers we have given with regard to who gets invited to the rehearsal dinner. Sorry, I should have been more clear.
My future daughter-in-law is using "house party" for the people that will be sitting at the guest book table, assisting with serving cake and punch, and acting as "go-to" people when needed. From everything I've read, all people involved in the actual wedding rehearsal should be invited for sure, but I honestly do not know if it is customary that they attend the rehearsal, and thus, the rehearsal dinner.
I hope this is a little clearer.
Thanks!

Only those actually involved in the ceremony need to be invited because they wil be there to practice their roles. You don't have to practice sitting at the guest book table or serving punch. None of those people need to attend the rehearsal so none of them need to be invited to the dinner. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
