I've been trying to come up with unique favor ideas for our wedding. Because we're only having a very small destination wedding (15 - 30 guests), I thought it might be a nice idea to present them with individualized favors instead of everyone receiving the same standard thing.
I'm considering buying small trinket boxes, all with different designs selected to reflect the guest's individual style/interests, and placing gourmet chocolates in them (so they would have a sweet treat at the time and something lasting to take home). I'm hoping that this would show that a great deal of care went into the favors...but do you think any of the guests would be disgruntled that they didn't get the same as everyone else? Should I stick to something 'safer'?

I think your idea shows your desire to personalize your favors and I would be very surprised that anyone would not realize your thoughtfulness. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com

Thank you! That puts my mind at ease.
Do you think the idea of the trinket boxes is a bit too girly, or would it be OK for both men and women? I've been looking on eBay for ideas -- although there are some simple silver plated or wooden ones, most of them seem a bit on the feminine side (flowers, pastoral scenes, etc). I don't think I know any guys who would normally go out and buy something like that for themselves, so I'm hoping that everyone would find it useful in one way or another!

How about some sort of container that reflects the destination? For example, if your destination is a beach then maybe a small beach bag or a basket similar to the ones that are handmade locally?
I wouldn't worry too much about the favors being different. If this were a children's party - yea - but mature adults should be able to see the beauty in the care you took to select something just for them. That's a good idea! I'll see what I can find on eBay. We're getting married in Hawaii so it shouldn't be too hard (although we're doing it a little more formally than a ceremony on the beach so I might look for a containter that reflects that as well).
Thank you both so much for your advice -- I'm very glad I found this website, everyone is so kind and helpful!
