     Cheesy favors for simple wedding?

I have a limited budget for my wedding, which is Oct 2006. My colors are royal blue and silver and I will have about 100 guests max. I've already purchased 100 silver organza bags in which I'm planning to put Hershey candies with a card that says "Hugs and Kisses from the new Mr. and Mrs." I do a lot of needlepoint and am also making 200 plastic canvas potpourri ornaments (half are clear canvas with blue hearts stitched on the sides and half are blue canvas with white hearts, 2 for each guest, only design is a heart so they could be used as Christmas ornaments, too). I'm also having 200 silver bells with blue ribbons for the guests to ring at the sendoff (instead of rice or bird seed) that they can also take home as favors.

All that being said, do these favors sound too cheesy? Especially the homemade ones? This is an relatively informal southern wedding with a laid back reception, but I'm still worried that people will think the favors are cheap. Any opinions?

These are NOT "cheesy", in fact I LOVE them! Most anything handmade is acceptable and gives a warm feeling to your reception. Wedding favors do not have to cost a fortune and I'd say these are definitely favors that come from the heart and will be enjoyed by your guests. Personally, I like a favor that I can actually use.

Bravo for not being sucked into the wedding hype!
