How can I incorporate fresh strawberries...

Hello Smile

One of my favorite fruits is strawberries and the red color matches the color of my wedding scheme. The flowers that I am using are the bright gerbera daisies, red and orange. I would love to give out strawberries (maybe with chocolate) somehow on each guests place setting as a favor, but I am not sure how to do it and if they will go bad or not taste good if we put them out too soon. Do you have any ideas on how to incorporate strawberries as a wedding favor?

Annie

Check with a local candy shop or your wedding reception site manager to ask if they have fresh dipped berries. Many of them have them specially decorated (like little brides and grooms). You can also buy these online and have them delivered the day before your wedding.

You could purchase strawberry flavored candies and wrap them in colorful celophane and ribbon.

I agree. And they will keep just fine as long as they have been refrigerated at least six hours before the wedding AND aren't left in any type of hot space. For the last bride we worked for who wanted this exact party favor, we actually made the chocolate (both white and milk chocolate) and dipped the strawberries. After they cooled, we slipped two of them for each guest into celephane and tied it with a ribbon with the bride and groom's wedding date on it. It was absolutely lovely!

Those ideas are great! You all have excellent answers! Making the chocolate ourselves should be pretty simple. Is it good to purchase the strawberries myself at a local grocer, or is it better to have them ordered and shipped to us maybe the day before the wedding? I've just never bought this many strawberries at once before.

Thanks, Annie

It all depends on the time you have available. I elected to go to the local wholesale grocer to pick up the strawberries because I wanted to be sure what I was buying could be used. When you have them shipped, you are captive to the shipper and won't know until the shipment arrives. I'm a an "A" personality so I had to have them in my hand:-)

The chocolate was easy to get and make. The celephane we got from a local cake art store and it was really inexpensive.

If you choose this route, I believe you will have a lot of fun and really feel satisfied doing it. We did!

If you have a local shop that makes candy and you're pressed for time (as I am ALWAYS!) then that's my pick for the best means to an end. Leave the picking and dipping to the experts!

I agree. We had plenty of time to do this AND we knew what we were doing. Going with a local candy store is probably the best solution for you.

Consider renting a chocolate fountain and have available at the reception for dipping additional strawberries and other goodies. Visit www.topweddingsites.com and check the vendors in your state. I recall seeing vendors who rent the chocolate fountains.

Thank you all you much.....all the help is greatly appreciated. If you think of anything else...I am open to it all!

What about not dipping the strawberries...but serving them just normal and putting a small bowl of chocolate dipping sauce on each table...?? Is that a crazy idea? It's just something my aunt suggested as well.

Thanks.
