No Wedding Favors-Contribution to charity instead?

My daughter (the bride) and I both agree that wedding favors are a waste of money. These are mostly useless items that end up tossed in a drawer somewhere. We have discussed the matter and she would rather make a contribution to a charity in honor of her guests for the $ she would spend on favors. How can we indicate that is what has been done? Should we note it in the program? Have the notation and name of the charity on the table card table at the reception? Have a card placed at each guests place at the reception?

I applaud your generosity, however, not all favors are useless or a waste of money. Smile

Edibles (cookies, chocolates, etc.) make a terrific snack for the ride home from the reception and I have enjoyed receiving those and some other choice favors. Please note that favors are optional, so don't feel compelled to give favors. However, if you'd like to make a donation to charity, that is comendable and very generous of you. Here is an article I think you'll find helpful:

Giving to Charity in Lieu of Wedding Favors

Enjoy!
