Do you have Bridesmaids and a dress color yet? I think I would use blue as an accent only in the fall...but it can be sparkling with some gold and orange tones. My first job in flowers was growing them at a farm to sell to florists. My very most productive and reliable crop was Zinnias...Plant lots of those. Then put in Dahlias in your main theme color. Sunflowers in the new smaller hybrids would be great with the fall theme. Hydrangeas come in great muted down colors for fall...Maybe you order some of those from the florist and combine with your garden flowers. There is a tropical version of forget me nots called tweedia that you may be able to obtain through a florist. Not exactly the original but pretty. There are so many nice textures in the fall to take advantage of...Pick the grasses and seedheads and berries that are out there, mix it up with your flowers and have a very special day... We haven't chosen the dresses yet, shouldn't they go with the colours theme? I want to stay away from oranges and yellows, is this a bad idea for a fall wedding?

Whatever you like is what you should do. Your dress color serves as a background for the flower colors and a theme. Some colors I like for fall are chocolate brown, burgundy or apple red and any type of green. If you love blue you can have it too. The trick is in the way you blend colors. Nothing says you need orange or yellow. Go with your favorite colors and mix in muted tones. Delphinium also has a fall flush of smaller blooms and could be something to look at. Heres a fun exercise...take squares of your potential dress colors and a box of crayons. Peel the wrappers off so you can see the colors and start playing with combinations. Just stack the crayons and consider them with the background...you will see what you like. Have fun and all the best... Sue of Hobart's Fine Florals http://www.hobartsfineflorals.com

I never would have thought to put blue with brown but my teenage daughter came home with an outfit light blue with chocolate brown and the two colors coordinate really well together. She also had pink and brown in another blouse and that looked great too. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
