     Alternate reception activites besides dancing

Hello. My fiance and I both hate to dance and are not thrilled with the idea of hiring a DJ for a reception. Also, it will be a very small reception and I would be really embarassed if we hired one and nobody else danced either.

Are there other activites besides a DJ that would be fun and appropriate for a wedding reception?
I once heard someone mention a vegas/casino theme. I wouldnt mind that but my fiance absolutely HATES gambling and I dont think he'd like that idea.

Are there any other ideas I may be missing?

How long is your reception and how many guests are invited? Do you want to kill music altogether or just hiring a dj? What type of hobbies, if any, do you and your Fiance have?

No I dont want to kill music altogether. My favorite thing in the world is music. My fiance' and I both love classic rock and I love any kind of rock, pop. Its just we hate to dance.

He also loves to fish. I cant really think of anything else right now..

Okay. If your reception is very small and informal, then perhaps the way to go is play cds with the music you, and he, both like and ask someone you know who will be invited to the wedding anyway to be in charge of the music.

As for other activities, since you don't like to dance, rather than creating other activites, there may be sufficient events between dinner, toasts, mingling with and thanking guests, along with cutting the cake. This is, of course, if you have a small reception and short time block. It may not be enough if you have a long period between the reception start and end time.
