Beach wedding reception on the beach

Hello,

I am planning to have my wedding ceremony on the beach and my budget is really limited. There are about 20 guests invited. I can't afford to have a reception catered or to take everyone out to eat to dinner. I'm having a small wedding cake made, but don't really want to have a typical reception. How could I still have the traditional cake cutting without a reception? Would it be considered rude to have it right there on the beach?

Dear Amw,

If you host this during a time when your guests do not expect a meal, say 10 am -11 am or 1 pm - 3 pm, this would be fine. You would also be expected to have some sort of beverage.

Best wishes,
