Best type of wedding cake for face smashing

Groom has given advanced notice that he is going to push cake in brides' face. Bride is asking for a very dry cake/frosting to minimize effect. Fondant icing would seem best, I would think? What would a dry cake with the least amount of oil in it be? Angel food cake?

Why does the groom have to smash the cake in the bride's face? This is not a nice way to celebrate his new bride. Especially, after all she will probably do to beautify herself for this special day. Instead of trying to find a dry cake, get the kind of cake she wants and tell him to skip the smashing altogether, if at all possible.

Thank you, as mother of the bride, I couldn't agree more with your advice. Groom tends to be a funny guy that is known for his sense of humor and has a wide circle of male friends which are all invited to the reception (200 guests) . Bride does not take groom's threat personal...her #1 goal for her reception is that guests have fun and enjoy themselves. Her concern about the cake smashing is that it could precipitate an acne break-out since she has very sensitive skin, or be messy.

Her idea was to have a dummy cake for the cake cutting ceremony since she doesn't care for fondant frosting, or dry cakes for that matter, and then have her favorite cake in sheet form to be served after to the guests. So if groom can't be talked out of pushing cake in my daughter's face, do you know what a dry/ crummy cake might be? Thank you.
