For the Bride/Father dance it is from Bride to Father, and for the Groom/Mother dance it is from Groom to Mother. Rhonda Allen, Bridal Consultant New Beginnings Weddings

We have found that the song direction can go either way - parent to child or child to parent. Because we were getting so many requests from parents and the bride and groom, we wrote specific songs for each. Many dads love to play "My Little Girl" which was used recently for a father/daughter dance on "Days of Our Lives", but many brides love to play "You're My Hero" as a tribute to their dads. The bride and groom many times would love to play a song that expresses all the emotions they can't themselves put into workds. Many moms love "The Man You've Become" because it expresses how proud the mom is of her son and how welcoming she is of his new bride. On the other hand many grooms love to play "In Your Eyes" which tells his mom how much he appreciates her belief in him and how important a role she played in his growing up. Some play both since they all want to express their feelings! Barbara & Gloria of Wedding Music Central http://www.weddingmusiccentral.com
