Cake and punch reception ok?

     Cake and punch reception ok?

My sister is getting married in an outdoor location. A Church is across the street, and she is reserving it in case of bad weather. Since she will be paying for the time regardless of use, would it be alright to have cake and a toast there after the wedding?

The wedding will take place at 1 pm and there will be a full dinner reception later at 7, in a completely different location with 30 minutes travel involved. Some of her guests have expressed they would not attend the reception due to the travel (to the wedding, and then further travel to the reception and a lot of time to wait in between).

Are these two events acceptable, or overkill?

Dear Jess Plum,

This is polite and a very good idea since it isn't polite to host a wedding and reception so far apart in time, even if it fairly common to do so in some areas.

Best wishes,

I totally agree with Rebecca but would be sure to check with the Church first. It would also most likely have to be a non-alcoholic toast.
