     Ceremony and Reception

Is it rude to invite "older" people to the ceremoney and not the reception? I have plenty of room at the church, but limited room at the reception hall. I was wondering if it is rude to invite people to the wedding, but not the reception? Or do I have to invite them to both?

Yes, it is considered rude to invite guests to the ceremony and not to the party that follows since the wedding (ceremony) is the gift giving event. Imagine how you would feel if you were invited to the church and, while attending the ceremony, other guests were discussing the fun reception that will take place afterwards. You would surely feel hurt.
