     Come and Go Reception

My fiance and I are getting married on a Friday with only a few people to witness. We have three children between the two of us. Thus, we would like to keep our expenses down. We also want to be able to spend what money we do have on our honeymoon and rings. We thought doing a come and go reception on Saturday would be the answer. What suggestions do you have for such a reception (i.e. times, wording on invitations, and food)?

I have never heard of this type of reception. Please explain so we can advise.

A reception that allows guests to come and meet the bride or groom, say congratulations and mingle for a bitThere would be finger sandwiches, crudite, cake, punch & peanuts. This would not be an affair that called for the guests to come at a specific time and stay for hours.

It sounds as if you are inviting guests to an open house style of party. You could simply invite your guests to an open house party to celebrate your wedding. The beginning time is typically early in the day and lasts for about 3-4 hours.

The food you suggested sounds fine.
