     Food choice problem on placecards

Hi -

I have a slight problem about my reception placecards.

Our reception sight has recently told us that we need to provide placecards for all guests attending and that their food choice needs to be identified on the reverse of the card.

The problem is that on the response cards we only put a space for total number of entrees ordered:

___ Prime Rib

___ Salmon

The guests gave us totals for all guests - so I don't know who got what.

I have expressed this to the caterer and they have told me that it may cause confusion if I don't know who got what and then they also may change their minds and that may also cause a problem.

So...do I call people and ask what they want? But that seems like I messed up, and there are 160 guests!! Or, do I take a guess based on the numbers I have...or do I put two names on the placecards - Mr. and Mrs. John Doe - I know that goes against normal etiquette.

Thanks for your help! Smile

Dear Problems,

Maybe you could just have a master list for the caterer of how many entrees of each choice is to be delivered to each table. They didn't inform you of their policy in time to allow you to modify your cards. So, they really should work with you on this. It seems that this could give them basically what they need.

Best wishes,
