Hors d'oeuvres or late night snack for wedding reception

I am planning a wedding for about 225 people and I am having a meal of Fillet Mignon and Chicken Princess. I would like to offer a late night snack around 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm because usually the guests are hungry around that time. I am wondering if that would be a good idea or if I must provide hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour. My thought was just to have the open bar and not serve hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour and then serve the late night snack. I'm sure I could do appetizers of cheese and crackers or vegetable tray but I don't want to be tacky either. So I would like to know what is proper? Do I need to provide hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour? Thanks!

It is very common to present lite fare along with cocktails at a wedding. Since the cocktails are directly before the dinner hour you can keep them light. Not knowing your schedule for the entire wedding, I can tell you that the late snack, if served at all, should be something very easily digested. Have you considered doing the cake later with an ice cream sundae bar and fruit and cheese offferings with a coffee and tea bar?

In most cases the bride and groom are completing their photos with the bridal party during the cocktail hour. Your goal should be to get as many of your pictures done before the wedding as possible and get to the cocktail hour early but that doesn't often happen.
