How long should a reception last without being rude?
Hi! I'm new to the site and I hope I added this topic to the right category!
We're having the wedding ceremony at around 9:30 AM, photoshoot to follow from 10:30 to 12 noon. While the bridal party is on the photo location guests will be treated to canapes etc. at the venue. (Ceremony and Reception venue are the same place) Would it be alright to allocate 3 hours to the reception or is that a bit too short?

Actually, the time between your wedding and start of your reception is what concerns me. Unless there is some special religious reason for an hour ceremony, generally it doesn't take that long for one. Keeping with this time line means you will be asking guests to wait 2 1/2 hours between the two.
I recommend that you consider taking as many pre-wedding photos as possible and limit your post-wedding photos to an hour. That gives you a 4-hour block for your reception, a much more reasonable timeline than the one you are proposing. Rhonda Allen, Bridal Consultant New Beginnings Weddings
