Introduction of Wedding Party at Reception

Should the bridesmaids and groomsmen be announced to the wedding guests at the reception before the bride and groom are?

My fiancee's friends advise her not to introduce the wedding party since it is her day. I think it is good to show our wedding party we appreciate their participation and contribution to our special day.

It is normal to announce the parents of the Bride first then the Groom's parents and then bridesmaids escorted by groomsmen and finally the new Mr. and Mrs.________________
