Limiting alcohol consumption at wedding reception

My fiance's friends are big drinkers, and unfortunately don't know how to stop once they've started. We were considering having wine and beeer available for our guests, but know that his friends will overly consume. Is there a way to limit their alcohol without being obvious and rude?

Thank you!

Try serving the alcohol only at the cocktail hour or offer a couple of pitchers of beer and a carafe or two of wine for each table with no refills. However, you may need to coordinate that with your banquet manager to properly decline orders for more alcoholic beverages.

If you're very worried, don't serve any alcohol or host the reception on a Sunday afternoon.

I agree. Hosting this during a time when alcohol isn't usually consumed will help. Plus, you could shorten the length of time of your reception.
