Matching Bridesmaid's Dresses W/ Wedding Decorations

Is it necessary to match my bridesmaid's dresses with the decorations? They are wearing black cocktail dresses and the flowers are full-sized calla lilies. So far, most of the reception is going to be white (draping, lighting, linens, etc.) with the exception of the writing on the favor boxes and menus (black) and lighted fichus trees and hanging ferns. Is that too little color??

Dear Karie:

No, it is not necessary to match your Bridesmaids' dresses with the decorations. Your main concern should be that their dresses complement your gown.

I can't comment on whether your decorations provide enough color or not without seeing the venue. But if you are doubting that there is enough, you could always add a touch (inexpensively) by using colored candle pillars on each table.
