My father passed away about 7 years ago now. I want to do something special to honor him at the reception. I'm going to have a picture and memorial candle set up at the reception for him. I came across a song called Daddy's Little Girl that really speaks to me. I was thinking of playing this song in lieu of the father/daughter dance. Is this a good idea or would this be too somber for such a joyous day? I don't want to create a dismal mood for the reception

I'm sorry for your loss. My mother died several years before I married and it was a bittersweet occasion.
However, as we've mentioned in many posts before, keep the sad stuff in the ceremony. There are many ways to honor or memorialize a loved one during the wedding ceremony. We've had a few posts about this in the past so use the search to discover them.
I wish you much happiness. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
