Menu suggestions for an outdoor wedding reception

My wedding is at the end of June- I am having the ceremony at my grandparents church where my grandfather will be doing the ceremony for us, it will be about 3pm. (time not completely set in stone) Then the reception (4-4:30) will be at my parents house in the backyard (out in the country- huge backyard with beautiful gardens and very private) We will have a large tent with banquet tables underneath, and I was planning on serving a buffet style meal. It will be informal- music- probably not much dancing.. We are serving wide variety of alcohol. I cannot afford a caterer, can you give me an idea of what to serve? I was kind of thinking of turkey and pork sandwiches, different salads- wild rice, noodle, potato. Meat and cheese, crackers, veggie tray, fruit tray- or fruit ka-bobs.. I have no clue really.. I will be having a nice wedding cake as well. Thanks for your help!

If you plan on serving sandwich meat and mayo products outside where it is warm, please consider using ice to help keep cool to help prevent food poisoning.

Also, BUGS, BUGS, BUGS, you might consider using those neat "tent" nets that can be positioned over food dishes for picnics. Even if you are using tents with screens, when people come and go so will the flying insects. The fruit will definitely attract the wasps and hornets, so a week before the event, set out your insect traps to catch as many before hand as possible. You might also want to Fog the area around the house and eaves a couple times the week before the event.

Everything you mentioned sounds good, and should appeal to most appetities as well as vegan guests.

If the reception will be going into the early evening, consider purchasing a bunch of tiki torches for ambiance and to help keep the flying insects at bay. You might also consider setting up several nice fire pits, the kind you can purchase at a hardware or department store.
