My Fiance thinks the wedding will be boring!!

Crazy I'm going crazy. I come from a family that does not dance, does not drink, does not party. My fiance comes from a family who drinks and dances and parties. The reception hall that we have booked for our dinner does not allow drinking or dancing. I'm perfectly all right with that.

My fiance, on the other hand, is not. Regardless that I've suggested quite a few ideas to keep the event fun that fits into our budget (less than $250 for entertainment)(karaoke, games, a nice & entertaining program).

How can I keep him from negatively commenting on all the weddings I've been to in the past (about 5-10 weddings in 8 years that have not had drinking or dancing and were NOT boring!) when he's only been to 3 weddings in his life - 2 of which were my family's weddings, which there were neither dancing nor drinking.

He insists we do something fun... and I'm out of ideas to keep the fight from getting too out of control.

PLEASE HELP!!

The worst thing that the two of you can do is compare your wedding to that of others. So, you must first stop that. Your wedding should be a reflection of what you want to say to and do for your guests. Obvisouly, since the venue you've booked for your reception doesn't allow alcohol or dancing, then continuing to dwell on that point is moot.

Focus on having festivities that are fun. One I like especially is having a sketch artist present. The guests, if they want to, can opt to take the photo and it doubles for a wedding keepsake, as well as an activity. I also like your idea of karaoke.

Cheers!
