Planning a wedding with no reception

This is a second marriage for both of us and money is tight while planning the wedding. We can not afford to have a reception and pay for meals. It is a very small (25-30 guests) casual wedding and we would like to just have wedding cake and champagne afterwards. Is this acceptable to choose not to have a wedding reception?

As long as you are not having a reception that includes only some of your ceremony guests then what you have planned is fine. Try scheduling the ceremony for a time of day when your guests wouldn't be expecting a meal. Aim for the ceremony ending at 2 or 3 PM and you should be fine.

I agree; perfect advice.

Just remember that you are a host when you invite. And, hosting this early is best.
