I am having a buffet style dinner at my reception, but before that, I am wanting to give my guests a light treat while they wait for my fiance and I to take our pictures together and travel to the reception site. My wedding colors are pink and brown and I thought it would be too cute to serve neopolitan ice cream (small amount) to them while they waited. I had planned to serve h'orderves and punch, but the neopolitan would fit right in. Please tell me what you think.
While your idea is sweet, skip it. Giving your guests what amounts to 'dessert' before dinner is not a good idea. They will wait for the two of you. If you want to give your guests something before the reception, stick with hors dourves like cheese, crackers, fruit, etc.
Check with your caterer to see what foods could be used and/or prepared to match your colors. Perhaps include dark brown crackers with strawberry and regular cream cheese on top?
