Previously postponed wedding; now eloping - Can we still throw reception?

3 weeks before our wedding, the groom asked to postpone. We worked it all out and are better than ever, so he's "reproposed". However, we'd now like to elope, have our honeymoon, then come back and have the reception that we had originally planned. My question is, if we invite the same guests to the reception as we did originally, is this appropriate?

(PS - Your advice has been SUCH a huge help and comfort to me this past year; thank you!)

Dear Heatheranders,

It is wonderful that you have worked through this.

Yes, you may host the same reception you planned originally with the same guests. There may be a problem if you had showers hosted for you, as only those invited to the wedding may be invited to a shower. Maybe that can be worked through as well.

Best wishes,
