Is it wrong to get married in one location and have a reception at a site that is almost an hour from the church?
We're getting married in my hometown and it's VERY close for my family (most can walk to the church) while our friends and his family will have an hour plus drive. One reception site will make it an almost 2-hour drive for those who don't come to the ceremony (45 min. for those who do) but my family doesn't seem too keen on driving an hour to the reception site. Help someone. Am I doing this wrong? Has anyone else done something like this? How far is too far for a reception?

There is no magic mile marker. I wish there was; it would make things easier.
Hosting your reception any distance longer than 10 min. away from your wedding site creates a problem for some. Out of respect for your guests it would be best to choose a location fairly close to your wedding site if at all possible. But, many times there is no easy solution. So, host this in a location you feel is closest to the most of your guests.
Honestly, traveling an hour for me is not a problem as long as it is during the day. In California, many of us have to drive a long distance to attend events.
