HI- Just had a quick Question about my decorations!! I'm getting married on a beach in October, but not having a reception with family and friends untill we return home in late november! Are hall will be decorated with x-mas trees and lights for x-mas for that time of year and wanted to incorporate a slight beach theme with a sheel wedding cake, the guests favors being starfish candels and placecard holders being shells ! Do you think that would be tacky ? Confused!

Dear Question about Reception,
Your themes would tend to be in conflict, however, you haven't divulged where the Christmas Tree will be located. Will it be directly in the reception room or in a lobby?
If it is in the same room, you could use a sandy colored table topper on your guest tables, not the traditional red and green. You could provide some beach themed ornaments on the tree to coordinate. By all means do have the gifts under the tree that your guests bring, it makes a wonderful photo for you and you don't have to have a gift table.
You can blend the two with a bit of imagination and some leg work. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com

Thanks Nancy,
Yes the x-mas tree would be in the same room! So- do you think I should not have a shell cake and the starfish candle favors and try something else!! Thank you

how about a beachy theme tree as a location for the placecards...maybe clamshells on strings with the names attached. Also spanish moss makes beautiful beachy looking garland on a tree..(can you tell I am from cape cod) just pull a little of your theme into the trees and have a great time ...congrats Sue of Hobart's Fine Florals http://www.hobartsfineflorals.com
