     Reception--Finger food vs. Buffet Dinner

We plan a 7pm wedding and 8pm reception. Would most people expect to have a full meal for a reception that started at 8pm? Or would it be okay to have lots of finger foods (some hot and some cold)?

Dear Featherchickie,

In most regions, this would mean finger food. But, if you are in a region where late dinners are common, then a dinner may be expected. Plus, consider the guests who may have to travel a while and may not have time to eat dinner beforehand.

It is best to have plenty of finger foods on hand.

Best wishes,
