My son and future daughter-in-law are marrying at a chapel at 11:00 a.m. There is no room for a reception at the chapel so my daughter-in-law's aunt has been very gracious to offer them the use of her home for the reception. She will also provide heavy hors d'oeuvresas well as her gift to the couple. The bride and groom are covering most of the cost of the wedding with a little help from us and her parents, so of course, they were thrilled and very appreciative.
I have a question about the order at the reception. There will probably be people that want to attend the reception that will not want to stay a long time but would like to see the bride and groom cut the cake. Should we wait until after the hors d'oeuvres to cut the cake or would it be appropriate to go ahead and have the cake cutting immediately following the blessing?
Some of the guests will be traveling 2-3 hours each way to the wedding/reception and will not be staying overnight. We want to be sensitive to those who will have a drive ahead of them but we don't want to be complete out of line either.
You have given great advice and we would appreciate your thoughts.
Yes, it would be more appropriate to wait until after the hors d' oeuvres and the cake would serve more or less as a dessert. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com
