Reception by invitation only

Hello I am in serious need of assistance. The wedding is 300 guest but we would only like to have a reception for approx 100-150 of our closest friends and family. How do we word this on the invitations or even go about handling this .? Thanks Unsure

There is no way to word what you want to do since doing so would hurt your guests' feelings. It would be something like, "We would like to invite you to our wedding, the gift giving portion of the event, but we don't think you are important enough to entertain. So, after the wedding you will go home and the important people will go have a lovely time."

Sorry, I have to be blunt. Invite only those you are inviting to the reception to the wedding.

I completely agree. This is very impolite. All wedding guests are invited to the entire reception.
