Ok, I am in need of some serious help in organizing my wedding reception. Before our wedding we are offering some cheese crackers and fruit to munch on. Our wedding will begin at 7:00 and roughly end at 7:30. From there, the wedding party is going to take pictures and so forth, lasting til 8:15. My thought was to immediately send the guests into the reception hall and start their dinner (buffet style) because it will be right at 7:30. Should I do that, or have enryone wait until the bridal party arrives? If the guests have dinner while we are taking pictures, at 8:15 the bridal party will be introduced, then the first dance, followed by the cake cutting. I was thinking that while the guests were moving on into the cake, the groom and I could take a moment and eat our dinner. My next thought was about 30 mins. later do the father/daughter and mother/son dance. I also wanted in incorporate the "thriller" dance for my bridal party as a fun way to get the dancing started.
Let me know what you think about this set up. I am open for suggestions.

I have a problem with food and drink being served prior to the wedding ceremony. It has been my experience that when this is done, the crowd begins visiting with each other and it's very hard to get them focused and ushered into the ceremony. More effective is to have the ceremony, then following the ceremony while you are doing your photos, the guest can be served the fruit and cheese and drinks. When you arrive then everyone is invited to join in the buffet. Hopefully the wait staff will serve you and the groom. The parents of the bride and groom start off the food service. After the dinner you can do the dances and move right into the guest dancing and then do the cake cutting with the bouquet and garter toss done at the same time..that way the next time the guest are interrupted, will be for the departure or last dance.
