     Refreshment Break No Reception.

We booked a chapel and church hall for our event. Our plan was to have a simple ceremony in the church and then have refreshments available to our guests immediately after in the church hall as a thank you for coming to witness us exchange vows, with some simple wedding favours, and a guest book for everyone to sign. We thought of still decorating the hall a little to class it up and have a 2 hour refreshment period to mingle and thank our guests for coming. Now during this 2 hour period I am not sure really what to do for entertainment purposes. We are still going to cut a cake and decorate a wedding arch for those who would like to take photographs, but I am not sure what to really do during this refreshment period, and since this is not a reception we were considering having some background classical cds playing just so there isnt dead silence. Any advice on how to keep this classy yet simple. And inexpensive...but still entertaining...

I think your ideas sound very acceptable to show your appreciation to your guests. The classical cd's playing in the background sounds nice also, if there is a sound system in the hall. Otherwise if you're using a portable cd player, the sound close to it could be annoying to some and not heard by others. You could also consider a piano player from your church to just play some nice pieces in the background.
