     Roman theme for a wedding

I am having my wedding at Caesar's Lake Tahoe Wedding Chapel. I would like to have some kind of Roman-ish theme. First of all, is this a corny theme? Secondly, any ideas if this is an okay theme? My dress goes with this theme, but I am not sure about anything else (decorations, accessories, etc.)

While that particular theme is a new one for me, it is your wedding and you can do as you wish.

Wosie:
First of all, congratulations! I agree with everyone here - your wedding is your special day. The Roman theme is not corny and can be quite elegant dependent upon how elaborate you wish to make the celebration. A Fortuny-style gown would be perfect for the ocassion and resembles the ancient dresses often depicted in drawings from the era. Accessories & decorations can be easily located. Try places such as Pier I, World Markets, or eclectic type stores.
Good luck,

Theme weddings are always great. What is good about a Roman theme is that it is romantic and full of cheer. Depending how far you want to go with the theme, here are a few suggestions.

Your florist will definitely help keeping with the theme of things. Flower, garlands, wreaths, fruit (grapes!), and ivy is a great way to decorate for this time period. Fresh flowers on the cake is also a great touch.

You can wear a silk or satin floor length gown with tricolored beaded staps. You and your bridesmaids can wear floral head wreaths with ribbons.

Those are just a few Roman theme ideas. Have fun planning!

Good luck,
