Seating bride's father's girlfriend at the head table at reception

My partner, the father of the bride, is a widower; his wife died almost 4 years ago. We have lived together for over 2 years. His in-laws, mother-in-law and her siblings are making a fuss because I have been invited to the wedding and it is planned that I sit at the head table. In Would it be usual for the bride's father's girlfriend to sit at the head table? Would it be usual for the bride's grandmother mother to sit at the head table?

The bride and groom determine who is seated where. If there is a problem with the family of her mother, then I would suggest that the bridal attendants only sit at the head table and have family tables set up among the guests close to the couple.

I couldn't agree more. Great advice.
