Separate Childrens Table at Wedding Reception

We have counted approximately 12 children to attend or reception. I had thought of having a separate table for children of a proper age(5 and up). I mentioned this idea to my 8 year old soon to be stepdaughter. She loved the idea. I thought the children would prefer each others company instead of adults and vice versa. I had also thought of putting goody bags on the children's table to keep them entertained. Would this idea be wise and what would the parents think?

Rarely does a children's table work. Most guests will not want to be separated from the children, no matter how much entertainment you try to provide the kids. I like your idea of putting child friendly goody bags on the tables better.

Cheers!
