I will be getting married at 12:00pm. The reception is about 35-40 minutes away. What is a good time to start the reception (alcohol?) and what time should I have dinner.
Would it be appropriate to serve those who attended the ceremony some kind of lunch, maybe sandwiches as they leave the ceremony (outdoor ceremony) or would that be tacky? About 100 of the 375 people will be attending the ceremony (since it is a distance). I am finishing up our invites and would like to put a time that the reception starts for those who are not attending the ceremony.
Currently, supper is scheduled for 4:30pm and I was thinking of opening the bar around 2 or 2:30?
I tried getting my ceremony for around 3-4pm, but 12 is all they had left so I took it.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: [sa26] Time between Ceremony & Reception

Dear SA26,
Having the reception at 4:30 p.m. is a good idea. As for the guests at the ceremony, skip the food. It's basically a mini-reception and a lot of hassle. A better idea is to have bottle water to offer.
Don't open the bar too early. The longer a bar is open, the more alcohol is consumed. Guests will not eat the same when they are full of drinks. And we want them to eat since their meals are paid for.
