     Too late for a reception?

Our daughter got married in Dec. 08 at the justice of the peace. Is it too long after the marriage to have a small "wedding" and reception? Could it be a meet the new family party, as they had a son in april 09? Any suggestions or ideas? We would like her to have something special since she didn't have the formal wedding she had hoped for.

Your daughter is already a wife and mother and the couple already had their wedding. A reception should be held within the first year after the wedding, as close to the wedding date as possible. You could certainly host a party in your home to celebrate the arrival of your new grandchild. I can't think of any other formal party that would be appropriate at this point.

I completely agree. And, please remember that any type of gathering would not be a gift giving event. So, no mention of gifts should be made.
